Über die Sommerzeit
Die Sommerzeit (DST) ist die Praxis, die Uhren während der wärmeren Monate vorzustellen, damit es abends später dunkel wird. Auf der Nordhalbkugel werden die Uhren typischerweise Ende März oder Anfang April eine Stunde vorgestellt und Ende Oktober oder Anfang November zurückgestellt. Länder der Südhalbkugel, die die Sommerzeit beobachten, tun dies in den entgegengesetzten Monaten. Viele Länder in tropischen Regionen nahe dem Äquator beobachten keine Sommerzeit, da ihre Tageslänge das ganze Jahr über wenig variiert.

Die Sommerzeit (DST) ist die Praxis, die Uhren in den wärmeren Monaten des Jahres eine Stunde vorzustellen, damit es abends länger hell ist. In den USA und Kanada werden die Uhren am zweiten Sonntag im März (8. März 2026) vorgestellt und am ersten Sonntag im November (1. November 2026) zurückgestellt. In den meisten europäischen Ländern werden die Uhren am letzten Sonntag im März (29. März 2026) vorgestellt und am letzten Sonntag im Oktober (25. Oktober 2026) zurückgestellt. Länder nahe dem Äquator erleben das ganze Jahr über relativ gleichmäßige Sonnenauf- und -untergangszeiten, was die Sommerzeit unpraktisch macht. Viele tropische und subtropische Länder in Asien, Afrika und Mittelamerika haben die Sommerzeit dauerhaft abgeschafft oder nie eingeführt.
Die Normalzeit (auch Winterzeit genannt) ist der offizielle UTC-Offset, den ein Land in den Monaten ohne Sommerzeit beobachtet. Die Sommerzeit stellt die Uhr eine Stunde gegenüber der Normalzeit vor. Zum Beispiel ist das Vereinigte Königreich in der Normalzeit UTC+0 (GMT) und in der Sommerzeit UTC+1 (BST).
