Feast of the Immaculate Conception

Feast of the Immaculate Conceptionについて
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception, observed on December 8th, is a Catholic holiday celebrating the belief that the Virgin Mary was conceived without original sin. It is a public holiday in many Catholic-majority countries including Italy, Spain, Portugal, Austria, and numerous Latin American nations.
The doctrine of the Immaculate Conception — that Mary was preserved from original sin from the moment of her conception — was formally defined by Pope Pius IX in 1854 in the papal bull Ineffabilis Deus. December 8th was already a long-established feast day before the formal definition.
The Immaculate Conception should not be confused with the Virgin Birth of Jesus — it refers to Mary's own conception in her mother St. Anne's womb, not the conception of Jesus.
